AR-Media Plugin: view your 3D models in augmented reality
Posted By sculpteo on Jan 25, 2011 | 1 commentAR-media is an extension for Google SketchUp (Windows and Mac) and Autodesk 3ds Max (Windows) created by Inglobe Technologies.
Version 2.0 of the extension, which has just been released, allows you to view your work in augmented reality.
Augmented reality has received a lot of attention lately, but here’s a quick explanation if you’ve missed out:
Augmented reality is a system that superimposes data or other elements such as 3D models onto your webcam image. The system locates markers (symbols) that you have placed in your environment and displays the corresponding 3D model on the screen of your computer (or smartphone). Video broadcast by your webcam (reality) is “augmented” with an additional layer, added on by software. If you move a marker, this moves the 3D object associated with this marker.
Watch the videos below to understand how AR-Media works. It’s really quite impressive.
