This piece is inspired by the classic rook model that we often see printed to test the quality of a 3d printer. I wanted the design of the tower to pay tribute to the classic rook design; for example, the dragon mimics the helix shape that is in the original rook, and the interior "hollowed out" area is incorporated as part of the overall design.
I created the Dragon Rook model using ZBrush, Modo, and NetFabb. I had so much fun integrating story elements and emotion in this design, and it is exemplified in the printed product.
