REF Bikes is a dynamic French start-up headquartered in Lyon. Founded in 2020, the company has already made its mark in the cycle industry, thanks to the introduction of an innovative advancement: modular bike technology, with the creation of the Plug&Go® system.

REF Bikes’ groundbreaking Plug&Go® system represents a significant departure from conventional bicycle design paradigms, holding the promise of transforming how cyclists interact with and utilize their bicycles.

What where their challenges?

REF Bikes naturally turned to Sculpteo’s additive manufacturing expertise, to help them overcome their challenges:

1. Create an exclusive connective part for a new bike assembly technology.
2. Optimize the part so it is technically efficient and aesthetically pleasing.
3. Quickly get the part available for small production batches.

REF Bikes had specific aesthetic and technical requirements. Sculpteo managed to act as a consultant and provide guidance throughout the whole process.

The material of choice proved to be Nylon PA12 for its high versatility. Thanks to the use of Selective Laser Sintering Technology, it is possible to offer a wide range of finishing options for customization.
