About the Project:

The collaboration between Niryo and Sculpteo exemplifies the synergy between technological innovation and industrial expertise. Sculpteo played a key role in manufacturing several essential components for Niryo’s robots using 3D printing, including casings, grippers, internal components, and custom-designed parts with specific shapes. This 3D printing expertise allowed Niryo to obtain high-quality, precision-engineered components tailored to their technical needs. By combining their strengths, the two companies not only optimized the production process but also enhanced the performance and reliability of Niryo’s robotic solutions, paving the way for new opportunities in innovation.

Overcoming Challenges:

In total, each robot consists of three 3D-printed parts (double fan support, easy open base stepper shell), while an additional 21 parts are used for accessories such as grippers, vacuum pumps, and vision sets. This partnership has enabled the production of 1,500 robots and 500 accessory parts, demonstrating the scalability and efficiency of 3D printing in industrial applications. One of the key advantages of this collaboration is the ability to quickly adapt to specific industrial needs. While fully customized parts have not yet been implemented, Sculpteo’s expertise in on-demand manufacturing makes it possible to develop tailor-made components to meet unique functional requirements. The flexibility of 3D printing ensures rapid response times, with the ability to provide solutions on the same day when necessary. By combining their strengths, Niryo and Sculpteo have not only optimized production but also enhanced the performance and reliability of robotic solutions. This partnership paves the way for further innovations, offering manufacturers the adaptability and responsiveness they need to stay ahead in an evolving industry.

Future Developments:

Niryo is increasingly shifting towards the industrial sector, with higher production rates and greater payload capacity, requiring more robust materials. Key industries: agri-food, pharmaceuticals, packaging, cosmetics. Niryo will also likely rely on Sculpteo for its new needs in Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) technology for various educational bundles.
