Posted By Hannah Bensoussan on Apr 10, 2017 | 0 comments
Our 3D printed Alumide can now be shipped faster, the dyeing option is cheaper, and its maximum dimensions are changed. Read all the 3D printed alumide news, as well as a reminder on this 3D printing material’s characteristics, and available colors.
New maximum sizes for 3D printed alumide
When you design to 3D print in alumide, make sure you respect these maximum sizes:
For raw 3D printed alumide: 315 x 240 x 190 mm. When raw, our alumide material is grey.
For dyed unpolished 3D printed alumide: 315 x 240 x 190 mm.
For dyed polished 3D printed alumide: 180 x 150 x 150 mm.
Objects above these sizes won’t be accepted for 3D printing on our platform when you upload your 3D file.
Faster shipping for our 3D printed alumide
We will now be able to provide a production time of 3 to 6 days instead of 6 to 8 days. Shorter lead time means more iterations possible, and faster time-to-market!

5 colors available for alumide – and it’s getting cheaper
Undyed alumide is grey, and the 4 dye colors we offer on our online platform are: black, blue, red and green.
We have now lowered the price of our dyed alumide! It goes for the polished dyed alumide, too.
Quick reminder: what is alumide for 3D printing?
These updates are a good occasion for a reminder on our alumide material for 3D printing. Alumide is made of a mix of polyamide powder and fine aluminum particles. We 3D print it using the SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) technology: alumide powder is sintered together locally using a laser. When using this 3D printing material, the resulting object is slightly shiny, and its surface is porous.
The physical properties of objects 3D printed in alumide are very similar to those 3D printed in polyamide. Its added value is the metallic aspect that the aluminum powder provides.
