Order Tracking: Detailed, Real-time, Made for Humans

Posted By Amandine Richardot on May 31, 2017 | 0 comments

Hi, Alex here, Sculpteo’s UX designer, with another update, this time to order tracking.

We pride ourselves on being the fastest online 3D printing service, but we know that even a few minutes of the unknown feels like forever. That’s why we’ve opened up our production line, letting you see an ultra-detailed, real-time and clear breakdown of your order at each step of its production from beginning to end.

How we designed our order tracking

Detailed:

You’ll see exactly at which stage of the production chain each of your 3D prints are, be it queuing, 3D printing, post-processing, packaging or shipping, with tracking numbers and packaging slips included for good measure.

Live:

Shipping and delivery estimates are updated in real time – as soon as one of your 3D prints moves from one stage to another, we automatically update the shipping and delivery estimates appropriately.

Made for Humans:

Information is presented in plain language, with any issues or errors clearly presented throughout, right beside the affected print run. Issues with a 3D print? You’ll see it clearly.

The updated order tracking makes you your own foreman, putting all the information you need at your fingertips for your private production run.

How does Order Tracking work precisely?

How to track your order status

First of all, it’s important to keep in mind that you can’t modify your order after completing it. If you have any problem, our Customer Service will be happy to help you fix it.

You can follow the status of your order in your order history. Each time your objects complete a step of the process, a status bar advances, as you can see here:

There are 6 steps:

– Queuing: The order has just been completed. Our team will check if it’s printable.

– Extra Verification in Progress: This is an optional step. It will happen if our team needs to make an additional check to ensure that your 3D file is printable.

– 3D Printing: Your 3D file has been transferred to one of our 3D printers.

– Post-processing: Your objects are being removed from the 3D Printing block and the required finishes are being made.

– Ready to ship: Your objects successfully passed our quality control. They’re being packed and prepared for shipping.

– Shipped: Your 3D prints have been given to the transporter. You will receive the tracking number.

If your objects do not respect the design guidelines for the chosen technique or material, your order can also be canceled. Of course, we will send you a detailed email explaining you the reasons why your object can’t be 3D printed. Order cancellation can be complete or partial if other objects from your order can be 3D printed.

How to track delivery dates for your order

If your object doesn’t pass our quality control, the estimated delivery date can change. If it ever happens, the status bar of your order will go back to the beginning, as shown here:

After your object is delivered to the transporter, an estimated delivery date will be shown at the end of your status line. If you choose a shipping method that offers a tracking option, you will receive a tracking number, as shown here:
