In the ever-evolving world of scientific research, collaboration across various domains is key to unlocking the mysteries of the human brain. A team of dedicated scientists from a prestigious national neuroscience research institute in France approached Sculpteo’s 3D printing service with a challenging project! The laboratory, led by the researcher James Bonaiuto, focuses on understanding the intricacies of how our brains produce actions, paving the way for insights into human cognition. This unique project is funded by the European Research Council under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program.

What were their challenges?

The research institute was looking for a way to optimize their process to create the best headset possible for their research – which implies finding the adapted prototyping technique, as well as the best material for this usage. Particular attention was also paid to the design of these headsets, with a specific lattice model created with Ultrasim® 3D Lattice Engine from Forward AM.

With Sculpteo’s expertise, they:

1. Optimized an existing process to create headsets for their research project

2. Found a good prototyping technique providing accuracy and flexibility

3. Chose an adapted material for the comfort of the participant

Discover in more detail the fascinating subject of their research, as well as the importance of 3D printing and lattice designs to enable them to face these challenges!
