CUSTOMER'S GOAL:

Jean Paul Gaultier sought a manufacturing solution capable of bringing highly intricate and unconventional designs to life without compromising on speed or precision. The objective was to produce complex dress components with exceptional geometric freedom, enabling the creation of extraordinary shapes that would be difficult or impossible to achieve using traditional manufacturing methods. By leveraging advanced 3D printing technology, the team aimed to rapidly transform creative concepts into high-quality, production-ready parts that met the exacting standards of haute couture.

CHALLENGES

The project required a tight production timeline without compromising quality or creativity.

The garment featured complex, flowing forms that would be difficult and labor-intensive to create using conventional techniques.

The sculptural design demanded a high level of dimensional accuracy to ensure every element aligned perfectly with the garment.

Overview of the project

About the project

The project brought five visionary haute couture designs to life using our 3D printing technology. Each piece explores a different application of additive manufacturing, featuring intricate textures, organic forms, and complex geometries that would be difficult to produce using conventional methods. The resulting collection is a striking demonstration of how technology and couture craftsmanship can come together to create truly exceptional pieces. Together, these designs illustrate how speed, precision, and unmatched design freedom empower fashion creators to turn the most ambitious ideas into reality.

Focus : Look 7

This sculptural bust showcases the unique combination of digital manufacturing and meticulous hand craftsmanship. The 3D printed base was carefully sanded and primed before undergoing multiple latex dipping processes, creating a perfectly smooth, skin-like finish matched to the model’s complexion. Every detail was refined by hand, from the painted beauty marks to the individually crafted anatomical features and the signature winding zipper integrated into the back. The result is a remarkably lifelike couture piece that blurs the line between fashion, sculpture, and the human body, demonstrating how 3D printing can serve as the foundation for truly extraordinary creations.

Focus : Look 19

This sculptural couture piece showcases the seamless integration of digital manufacturing and meticulous hand craftsmanship through a composition of individually 3D-printed PA12 petals. Each element was fabricated separately before being carefully assembled by hand, creating a complex three-dimensional structure with exceptional precision and detail. The versatility of additive manufacturing enables the production of intricate, lightweight forms while allowing for a high level of customization and control throughout the creative process. The result is a refined couture creation that bridges technology and craftsmanship, demonstrating how 3D printing can expand the possibilities of contemporary fashion design and sculptural construction.

Focus : Look 26

This sculptural garment explores the intersection of digital fabrication and couture craftsmanship. At its core is a custom-designed 3D-printed TPU structure, engineered to create fluid, continuous forms while remaining lightweight and flexible. The printed elements define the garment’s distinctive silhouette, demonstrating how additive manufacturing can enable complex geometries and new approaches to garment construction. The result is a wearable piece that combines computational design, advanced manufacturing, and meticulous finishing.
